Change swatch definitions

Is it possible to change some custom swatches to PMS swatches, and then synchronize the new swatches with other files in a book?

I tried to do this. I changed the color definitions to PMS in one document, and synchronized the others in the book to that document. The new PMS colors were added to the synchronized documents. But what I need is to replace the old swatches with the new PMS ones, rather than adding them to the swatches, and all objects in the document using those colors need to change to the new colors.

Is there a script that would help in this process?

Adding to my post, I tried using Ink Manager to alias colors. That works, but the change is not permanently saved with the InDesign document. Is there a way to make the color alias "stick"? Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

When you delete a swatch, you are prompted for another swatch to replace it with.

So load the PMS swatches, then delete each old swatch and replace it with the requisite PMS swatch.

Hi John,

Replacing one swatch with another works as long as the colors are on InDesign objects. If the color is in a placed graphic, the colors don't change, and I need the color to change globally, even for imported graphics.
