Changes inexplicably reverting to previous versions

We are on version 8 of a magazine project and changes that were present on earlier versions have reverted back to the "mistakes." However, not all the changes are lost—it will be just a few changes that don't seem to make it onto the latest version.

Our designer isn't working on the Cloud, but saving the design file on her desktop.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it an InDesign glitch? Is there a fix? It's maddening and we're up against a deadline. Thank you!

Even if you are not conciously working on the cloud do you have OneNote or iCloud that is working in the background?  (Apple and Microsoft guide users to activate these without you making a concious decission and it does require intent NOT to have a Cloud service). Are you typing in InDesign or are you importing texts from word? If you have text linked to word documents and you edit content updating the links will lose the edits done in InDesign. There are plugins like EM Software, Docsflow which allow better syncing between word and InDesign where changes made in InDesign are honoured.

Another issue that could revert to an older document (but again here it would be the whole older document) is if you have some kind of backup service, but that would mean restoring older versions.

If it is a workflow issue, but you have to be honest about how the work is happen trying to pinpoint the fault in the workflow without pointing blame as that may make it difficult to figure out where or when the problem occurrs.

Could you better describe the kind of "mistakes" that you are reffereing to. If id is formating that is overridden to correct a wrong formating, canceling overrides would cayse that formating to re appear.
