I am using the "generate caption" command and using the "creation date" from the metadata as my source. I cannot seem to change the Date preference from YYYY-MM-DD to ANYTHING ELSE. Even in the Type --> text variables --> define, it will not affect the captions. Does anyone know how to change the captions date format preference? I'm pulling the metadata from Lightroom if that is any help.
Thanks for all your input. Turns out, that while it is reading the metadata field from the camera, it pulls it's formatting from the main settings of the computer. So I had to go into System Preferences on my Mac and change the "short" date format to the one that I wanted. I followed this path in system preferences: System Preferences --> Date & Time --> Open Language and Region --> Date
Also, I need to reference where I actually found the answer... long into my search of all the Adobe

Hi there. InDesign is only utilizing the metadata field from that image. It can't manipulate it in any way. Unless I'm mistaken, the "creation date" metadata field will get populated in the camera itself. I'd look at the camera settings to see if you can change the format within the camera.
