Changing Filename Extension of Multiple Images Placed in InDesign Files

I have 100 booklets, in InDesign.

Each booklet contains 20+ images placed the InDesign file.  The images are .ai

I want to change these to .jpeg images.
Manually that would mean I save each AI image as a JPEG and then go into InDesign and re-place each image, one by one.

With over 2000 images, this is a lot of Control-D.

I'm wondering if there is a faster way to do this.

For example, if every image kept the same basic file name but only had a different extension (changed from .ai to .jpeg) is there a way to tell the InDesign file to change all of its internal links to have a different extension? Instead of having to hit Control D 2000 times etc?

Welcoming any suggestions ...

My ID-Tasker would be perfect for this 😉

There is no public demo / trial available but if you would like to give it a try - i can give you full version for a week FOC.

From your post I assume you are working on a PC, right? That's the only condition - it's PC only.

Wow. Thank you so much.  I wish I had come here years ago to ask about this.  That worked!
