can anyone help please?
1 Correct answer
Hi NOOSHINRAD,
1) Go to your pages panel
2) Expand the top area in this panel to reveal all of the master pages
3) Select the master page you wish to change
4) Select the text and change it to your desired title
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Check the master page applied on this page. It will have the page number variable next to the title name.
If the master is based on some other master, you need to check this parent master page.

Hi,
1. Open the pages panel..(Windows->pages)
2. Check the small letter/name (in this case the A written in bold) at the top of the page which refers to the master page applied on that document page
3. Double click on that master page (A-Master in this case). The master pages are in the master page region of the pages panel.
4. Locate the needed text frame and remove the page number from it.
If A-Master itself has a letter/name on top of it, it means that A-master is based on another master page. Locate that master page and find the needed text frame
Once you change the text frame on master page, all the document pages having that master page applied will inherit the change.

Well!
I did as you said ... but on the master-page, I read:
-A- | magazine_title
I don’t understand! Help!

What would be the advantage of using a variable?

the -A- part is the part in which numbers will appear on each page.
if you change the magazine title to whatever it is that you want, it will appear next to all the numbering. (for example, mine said " -A- | The Magazina" I changed "The Magazina" to " The Gazette" and now it reads "-A- | The Gazette".

Nooshinrad,
I think the Jedi was wondering why it hasn't been scripted (but is standing by ready to write one)!

Hi Jane,
Not exactly!
Imagine 20 master pages making reference several times to this "The Magazina"! … Say 2 per page!
20 x 2 x 2 = 80!
If the op is glad to correct it 80 times, …
Here, we don't need The Force! … Just a variable!

Dang! I would use a variable (as I described earlier), but was sure you would find a way to script it if you could!!!
Twenty master pages? You've based 19 on the first, right?

Jane …
No! … 20 really different master pages not based on a pattern!!
So, 80 games!

Ah, a text variable or a Jedi trick then. Either one should work.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I have ever worked on a document with 20 really different master pages not based on a pattern. What situation are you thinking of?

Or change it on the Master Page to the name of your publication.

Hi
A professional who sells such a template would use a variable to define the name of the publication! …
If not, … no more comment!

Less ideal: hold down Command-shift and click on the text to unlock it locally (control-shift-click on a pc). Once unlocked you can edit the single instance on the page. The best advice though has already been given and that is to access the master pages via the pages panel and edit the text there.

I couldn't figure out the best advice mentioned, so THANK YOU for helping me fix a portfolio piece by advising me how to delete this years later! This is the most ideal solution for me 🙂

If the words on the Master are actually a variable, the way to change it would be to see what style it is looking for and then change that text in the document and assign the style to it.

I wish I could pick more than one correct answer. If someone had a problem in the future I do suggest to read all the replies above since they were all very much helpful.
