Chapter heading not following paragraph style

I've created a long book for a client, with numerous chapters.

Under the paragraph style for Chapter Title, in the Indents & Spacing section, under Space Before, I have asked the chapter title to begin 2.4375 in, but it doesn't format. It goes to the top of the page.

Everything else works just fine, running headers, centering, font size, etc. But I have to manually go in and et the chapter title where I want it...

I figured it out!

I also had the heading aligned to grid, and that overroad the spacing...once I took that off, it spaces where I want it.
