I cannot get the character and paragraph selections to appear in my control panel. I've tried all the suggestions from previous years (shift-control-option-comd) upon startup, and deleting Indesign's cache to no avail. I've reverted back to the last version and updated again. Reset all workspaces. Tried to customized my workspaces. Rebooted my laptop. Nothing.
I am on a Macbook Pro with Sequoia 15.5, running Indesign 23.3.1 (which just stinks). This upgrade is chock full of bugs and messes.
What can I do? This is a true handicap.

Have you confirmed the desired options are checked to appear in control panel?

It really looks like you just ran out of monitor space.
You can either:
Adjust your UI Sizing preference smaller;
Change your resolution of the monitor;
Get a larger monitor with greater resolution.
This is on a 27 inch 4K monitor with scale set at 150% and the UI sizing at the smallest.

Thanks for sharing the details. Please try the suggestion Jeffrey shared and make sure the Character and Paragraph options are enabled in the Customize Control panel settings.
If the issue still remains after that, could you kindly share a screenshot of your InDesign screen so we can get a better idea of what it currently looks like? That’ll help us understand the situation more clearly and guide you further.
Looking forward to your update!
Abhishek

What happens if you change your monitor resolution to show more "real estate"?

You do have text selected, yes?

I don't think you would see what's shown in their screen capture if they didn't have the text tool in a text frame. I noticed the fill and stoke color options are showing---they wouldn't show if just the type tool is active with no frame selected.

Unless I'm missing something (sure wouldn't be the first time), the OP posted no screenshots.

You are right--I apologize. It was the first reply. Time for my afternoon nap...
