CMYK Colors on Screen are Dull

InDesign // File set-up for CMYK/Print
I used to be able to choose vibrant colors from the InDesign Color Picker. Now, no matter what color I choose, it comes into InDesign dull. Once I'd see the color I like onscreen, I'd look at the official CMYK breakdown in my book and assign it the official color for the vendor.

Is there anything I'm not doing for colors to be visible onscreen as a bright color? See Attached.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

A majority of the time trying to match an RGB color with CMYK is a fruitless pursuit. Usually the most vibrant colors that can be seen in the RGB color space are close to impossible to match (the term is out of gamut) using just the combination of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black that are the options available for four color process in the world of print. Moreover, it has become even more frustrating over the years to match RBG using the official CMYK breakdowns that PANTONE offers. This is because PANTONE has made a practice of changing the breakdown values over and over again without warning or notice. Depending on what version of their chart you use there can be a different end result.

Overall, I have found that when creating a job for print it is better to not look at what is available in RGB. It will only break your heart in the end.

Without using spot colors you have to live with duller colors as the gamuth of the CMYK space is different, specially in lucent colors smaller, than a RGB space. With images turn on the CMYK print preview in RGB images to see the results on screen.
