Can anyone tell me why the colors in my document change when I hover over them? Actually, to be more specific, they become lighter and more muted when I hover off of them. Never seen this before.
I had this happening too and it was driving me up the wall. went through all the view options and prefrences and nothing seem to get rid of it; until...
i'm working with a dual moniter setup – laptop and a benq moniter – and it went away when i dragged the ID document from the main screen onto the laptop screen and stayed gone when i dragged it back.

Does this occur with every object on the page? Images, text, and vector graphics? Frames? Guides?
In any case, it would also help if you post more information about the version of InDesign you're running, as well as your operating system, etc.

Is this happening with just one document or with all files? If it is just one file then try exporting it to IDML and then opening that file in your version of InDesign. Then save the new file as .indd. This process can remove some corruption from a file.

Did you get this resolved?

So far, it hasn't been happening in my other documents. So, I am kind of in wait and see mode.
I'll let you know.

Yep, having a similar sort of issue too. Working on M1 MacBook Pro, latest version of InDesign, seems to be with some of the brighter colours I'm working with?

This started happening to me yesterday with ID 2025. I have multiple monitors. What seemed to solve it (temporarily) for me was to restart ID. Haven't tried what Brandon suggested about dragging to my main (laptop) MBP screen.

I think it is related to GPU accelleration and multiple monitors! I have had this bug on and off for quite a while, but disabling GPU accelleration in Preferences immediately stopped the color shifting. Of course now my GPU is disabled.

It's not GPU acceleration - it's GPU performance and it's designed soley for higher resolution monitors like Retina diplays. If it's not working it's completely safe to turn it off and work without it. It's not even a preference on Windows machines.
No idea why Apple didn't build in Retina support into their own OS - but hey, Adobe gave the option and made it work - so it's completely optional and has no bearing on actual indesign performance.

Disabling GPU for preview ( top nav, VIEW / PREVIEW ON CPU ) fixes the issue for me but Indesign works signifcantly slower. Takes about 2 sec between clicking any object to have this object aelected.
