Color panel is broken in InDesign

New Here ,
Jun 12, 2025 Jun 12, 2025

Hello,

I'm unable to change colors in Adobe InDesign 20.3.1 on macOS Sequoia 15.5. The Color panel is grayed out, even though it was working perfectly from the time I installed the system until just recently.

Thank you for your help.

Hi @maciejz69825177,

Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear the Color panel is giving you trouble.

Could you please confirm if this issue is happening only in a specific file or across all your InDesign documents? Try opening a new document and see if the Color panel remains grayed out there as well.

Also, please try resetting your InDesign preferences and see if that makes any difference. Reference: Reset InDesign preferences

Before you reset, make sure to back up your current preferences, just in case you need to restore them later.

Let me know how it goes or if you notice any changes after trying the steps.

Abhishek
