Colors Changing on iPhone/Goodnotes on Interactive PDF Export

I've recently had an issue working in Indesign and exporting an interactive PDF where some colours in the document change/go missing. The document is in RGB and created for use as an interactive planner used in an annotation app.

In indesign the colours are great, once exported and opened in Acrobat, the colours are great but when uploaded into Goodnotes, or simply opening the PDF on my iPhone, the colours change...

Would appreciate any advice on this issue!

Hi @AliRutt,

Thanks for reaching out to the community, and I understand how frustrating it can be when colors don’t display as expected across different platforms. Let’s see if we can figure this out together! Could you share which version of InDesign you’re using and the details of your operating system?

It sounds like the issue could be related to color profiles or how certain apps like Goodnotes handle PDFs. I’d recommend checking that your document is using the correct RGB color profile and ensuring the colors are set to "Device RGB" before exporting. When exporting, try experimenting with the “No Color Conversion” setting under Output in the Export Interactive PDF options.

Feel free to share any updates, and we’ll be happy to assist further!

Thank you,

Abhishek Rao

Hey Abhishek,

Thanks for that, I've tried both options but unfortunately, I'm still having issues. I'm working on the lastest version of Indesign 19.5 on a Macbook with the latest Sonoma update. The weird thing about this issue is that the colour problems are sporadic throughout the document, so that green in my previous screenshot will appear on other pages throughout the document, but only on some random pages will it glitch and turn grey or black.

Thanks,

Ali

Hi @AliRutt , The bright green in your captures seem to be showing some kind of accessibilty setting on your phone or in Goodnotes? In Acrobat you set it via Accessibility Preferences
