Question

Colour changes when copying and pasting from Illustrator to Indesign

I paste images from illustrator to Indesign because it doesn't lose quality and you can edit. But I'm copying an image and it has changed colour. I assume this is something to do with CMYK and RGB but I've tried changing it in 'Transparency Blend Space' and it doesn't change. I can't change it and wondering why it's changed colour in the first place? Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Josa

I do agree that you should be placing images rather than copying and pasting them. However, as far as colors changing between the programs you should go to Edit>Color Settings in both Illustrator and InDesign and make sure that all of the Color Settings match between the two programs. While you're at it do the same with Photoshop.

Generally I use bridge to keep my colour settings synchronised between the programs.

May be ellad34407767 confounds the low resolution preview of placed elements with the high quality preview option you can set and the full quality output that the placed files produce?

Illustrator files placed into InDesign don't lose quality, and they can be edited by either right-clicking or going under the Edit menu and choosing Edit Original

You should not "paste" images but "place" images. Pasting modifies the drawing to an Indesign drawing. Not all of what Illustrator can do can be done in Indesign.

Discussion successfully moved from Adobe Creative Cloud to InDesign
