Hey everyone, my command+Z shortcut for »Undo« doesn't work in Indesign, and I can't find the source of error. The problem is Indesign-specific, because the rest of the Adobe programs work with command+Z, as do all other programs on my laptop. I already re-downloaded Indesign, set it up again, checked for missing links and am now at the end of my wits. Can somebody help me? :=) xx, clara

Try resetting your preferences:
InDesign 19.3 and newer go to Preferences > General > and click on "Reset Preferences on Quit" and then quit and restart.
Or
Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Have you tried a re-boot?

Also check your keyboard shortcuts. Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts... and be sure the shortcut is properly assigned if you are using a custom set.

Is it just the key command that is not working or is Edit>Undo also not working to undo your last action? Are you using any third party plug-ins in either your InDesign or operating system? If so try disabling them and see if the problem persists.

Do you run any extra software, together with InDesign - like a FontManager - or have any extra plugins installed in InDesign?

Could you please confirm the version of InDesign you're using and the operating system details? That’ll help us dig a little deeper into this.
In the meantime, I hope Robert’s suggestion helped. If you're running any Font Manager or have any extra plug-ins installed with InDesign, try temporarily disabling them. To further rule out third-party conflicts, you can also try starting your system in Safe Mode and see if the issue still occurs:
macOS: https://adobe.ly/3EnUpAJ
Windows: https://adobe.ly/4ldhlmS
As Bill mentioned, please check if Edit > Undo works, and if it’s just the shortcut that isn’t responding.
You can also try creating a new admin user profile and test the shortcut there to help isolate the issue:
New user on macOS: https://adobe.ly/4ljduEO
New user on Windows: https://adobe.ly/4cu06di
Let us know how it goes.

hi again, thanks for all your input, sadly nothing solved the problem until now. I'll retrace what I did, first of all, i have the newest InDesign Version, and a MacOs Sequoia 15 that i bought 1,5 months ago.
thank you so much for your help, i really appreciate it since i don't know how to solve this seemingly small problem which is nontheless disrupting my workflow.

another maybe important thing is, i am sharing my creative cloud with my sister, and the issue is only popping up on my Indesign, not on hers.
