I am having a problem with resolution of letterforms on screen.
I have a MacPro (mid 2010) with ATI Radeon HD5770 (1024MB) graphics card, OpenGL checked, and a Dell U2410 (1920x1200).
So this should meet the min specs, but in Id Prefs - GPU performance, it says 'compatible GPU and Monitor not detected'
Would be grateful for any help...

AFAIK, you need a 4K montor.
That said, you’ve given us absolutely nothing else to go on.
What version of ID, What operating system and what exactly is the problem? A screen shot might help.

Hi Bob, thanks for responding.
I am using InDesign CC2019. Mac High Sierra 10.13.6.
Many thanks
Alan

The screenshot we need is for the issues you’re seeing, not for the GPU requirements which you do not meet with an HD monitor.

Next time, may I advise you to go ahead and read the actual published and current Adobe specifications – in addition to the spirit of the OP's question – before hucking up vague, condescending blandishments disguised as advice?
I'll type slowly so that you'll be able to understand:
• "Hawkeye" has met the GPU requirements.
• "Hawkeye's" monitor fits within resolution parameters.
• Rob, if you took the time to investigate, you'd discover the GPU acceleration bug amid acceptable hardware parameters is kind of a "thing" in these ID fora dating back many versions.
So, please, save the snark for your immediate fam, Levi. We are all professionals here who detect passive aggression when it rears it's, um, head!

Maybe you should read slower. HiDPI is 4K or above. The OP has a Hi Def monitor.
It does not qualify.

Personally, I still don't see why there is a requirement for a 4k/Retina display, if the GPU is supported then the acceleration should be applied. Requiring a 4k/Retina display is about as relevant as requiring a Logitech keyboard or your computer to be facing south.

I don't disagree with that at all but the entire thing is buggy as hell and isn't even available on Windows.
It's half baked at best.

Sadly I can't use it at work, my Mac Pro with dual Fire Pro GPUs doesn't have a 4k/Retina display so it won't work, but my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro with a GT650m GPU works a treat and to be honest I must be a lucky one as I've not had problems with the GPU acceleration at all, just high res images updated fast.

When it works, as you've discovered, it works great.
For many, it's proven so buggy that one of the top troubleshooting steps is turning it off.

As Bob mentioned, it does not meet the requirements:
The monitor the OP is using is HD, which is not considered HiDPI.

Well, if you check his activity, it's practically zero. I doubt he'll be back.

Hi Alan,
maybe that will help to identify working configurations with GPU support:
