Hi,
Is there a way to create a fixed line under a paragraph style? I've tried with paragraph rules > rule below, but the length is always depended on the textframe or last word.
I would like is to always be the same length. Is there a more automized way then drawing it?
Extra: I would like the stroke to have rounded edges.
thanks for helping
Vanessa
Hi Vanessa,
think about creating a custom stroke style.
Width of stroke would be the width you like.
Pattern width would be wider than any of your text frames.
And the most important: None policy when it comes to corners.
I'm on a German InDesign so this is what I can offer:
Result with different text frame widths where I used Rule Below with the paragraph style and the custom stroke style from above:

Uwe

Sure. Use Paragraph Rule Below, but this time give it a right indent. Keep playing with the amount until you get the result you are after.
As for the rounded endcap, see:

Hi Barb,
Strange, that's what I had, but when I extend my textframe, the stroke becomes longer. see screenshots;
PS: I see it works thought - tx ObiWan - but where is my mistake?

paragraph style pannel:
Tabs:
- set up a desired length (this will be the fixed length of your rules);
Paragraph Rules:
- Choose Rule below and set up the weight, color etc.
- Width: Choose "Text"
- Check "keep in frame" (but it isn't necessary)
- you can also set up space before and after in your paragraph style
Now apply this paragraph style to paragraph that contains only one tab

Hi OutlineG:

My answer was for a fixed width frame (because I missed these words "but the length is always depended on the text frame"), with the length was based on the distance from the right edge.
If you need this to work with variablely-sized frames, then you want to use Uwe's steps. If you need help translating the German screen shots to English (I just match the position of the commands with the US English version, and it works fine), just come back and let us know.
