It seems very simple to update them with the CR panel:

… Just 1 click!

But how to do it with Javascript!

One question: Why 2 codes to do the same thing?

1. app.activeDocument.crossReferenceSources.everyItem().update(); 
2. app.activeDocument.updateCrossReferences();
