A possible cause of this issue is the encoding format. When exporting your data from Excel or Google Sheets, ensure that the file is saved as "UTF-16" instead of UTF-8 or ASCII, as InDesign works better with UTF-16 encoding for special characters. Additionally, make sure that the fonts you're using support these special characters.
