Cursive when I paste text from Word

New Here ,
May 01, 2018 May 01, 2018

The last month the text I paste from Word often converts to cursive, even if its not in Word. Often, but not always. And when I pick formatmall in ID it always goes back to cursive. I've tried to paste only text, both in Word and ID.

Italic is the right term, not cursive.

Is this in one document or all documents? Does it happen in a new document?

It sounds like either:

you don't have the font InDesign is using

you have Italics set as a default.

Please show a screen shot, including your Character panel, so we can see for certain.

Are there brackets around the font?

What happens if you type instead of paste? Is it the same or different?

When you select your type tool without clicking in your document, what does it say for the typeface and style?
