I'm working on a file for a storyboard and I need to have a few pages in each spread so they work as rows.
The problem I run into, is that I had to create a script to reorganize the pages in the spreads because InDesign apparently can only reorder the spreads automatically when you have a 2 page spread.
I mean, if I want to have a 5 page spread, I'd expect to be able to add a page after the 5th and it would create a new spread, so if I move things around it would respect that limit, like it does with 2.
Am I missing something?
Or it's just a feature lacking?
[...] But I'm guessing this is a very specific use case.

No, it should be a basic functionality - to be able to define number of pages per Spread.

It's not an automatic process.
When starting with Facing Pages (pairs of pages facing each other), you need to uncheck the two "shuffling" options in the Pages panel menu:

In the way you set it up, if you add extra pages, will it automatically cut to 5 to start a new spread or you have to do it manually? Because when you have only two, it automatically creates the new spread up to two, right?

Hi @Renan35309773nfjy , Make sure you have both Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle and Allow Documend Pages to Shuffle unchecked (which is what @Steve Werner is showing). In that case you will be allowed to add or insert up to 10 pages to the selected spread. If you have Allow Documend Pages to Shuffle checked a new spread will be started.
Also If you are storyboarding does the document need a spine for binding? If not, you can set up the document with Facing Pages unchecked.

I was hoping, that if you make a Master with 5 pages:
and then when adding new pages, InDesign will use it as a reference for the number of pages per spread - but, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way - 2 pages per spread is hardcoded...

But somehow I was able to do something like this:
But not using Page Tool... Just moving pages on the Pages Panel.

Yes, that's exactly what I ran into and ultimately created a script to just rearrange all spreads. So I add pages loosely and rearrange the whole thing afterwards.
The hard-coded part is at the core of my question/request. It would be nice to have the option of setting a custom number / setup for the spreads that is not only 2 facing pages.
I also just recently learned about the User Voice for feature requests, so maybe I should place it there. But I'm guessing this is a very specific use case.
