Cut/Copy/Paste not working from InDesign to other applications

I am unable to cut/copy/paste from InDesign to other application such as Word. I am able to cut/copy/paste within InDesign documents.

If you need to do this regularly you might consider TextExporter:

Not wanting to overstate the obvious, but make sure that you're selecting the text with the Type tool and not the selection tool. Other programs won't recognize objects copied to the clipboard.

I just tried to copy and paste using the type tool and selection tool. Both worked.

The problem is intermittent. I can go days without it happening. I thought I had it isolated to the use of a Fujitsu scanner, but the issue happened when the scanner was disconnected and the scanner software removed. Thought it could be a memory issue as it usually happens in the afternoon.
