Dark mode work-arounds for designing emails in InDesign then slicing & exporting in Photoshop

We design emails in InDesign then export the png, slice & export to html in Photoshop. We're having a dark mode issue in some email clients (in others the emails appear as intended). Does anyone know of a work-around or fix to this, in either Photoshop or InDesign?

Much appreciation for any help offered.

Why not export in pieces from InDesign?

This sounds like a 1998 type of workflow. So, why are you doing this instead of using proper tools to keep your emails responsive and accessible?

Thanks for your input, Bob - we aren't having issues with responsiveness or accessibility, just dark mode.

It seems unlikely that any aspect of this lies with the two apps. Email clients vary widely in their handling of both graphics and canned HTML, and "dark mode" in many apps is somewhere between a kludge and a hack, using unstable tricks to reverse the display.

The only general advice is, I think, to keep such layouts extremely basic.
