Data Merge; how to get spreads?

I just started using Data Merge in ID. I've got it to work great bringing in fields from an Excel .csv file and also bringing in photos along with it, but it makes single pages, not spreads, in the document. How can I set things up so it has left/right facing pages with their own master pages and not break the flow, so to speak?

You can't.

Do the merge first and then convert the document to facing pages.

Or simulate your layout beyond the margin of the page, then convert to facing pages and then using script - add blank pages to shift contents.

Hi @TeamMancomm ,

could you show a typical spread of two facing pages that you hope to output?

You probably can do what you want if you start out with a facing pages document as data merge template.

See my attached sample. The template document. The source text file. The result document of the merge.

Two different parent pages are used in a spread of two facing pages.

There is also a great script, that does take some time to learn but enables to take data merge in a "Text Flow". It is used in combination with the DataMerge Panel
