This is a tricky situation that I'm sure won't have a straight forward answer.
I've been tasked with creating a package that is data merging a standard CSV file, but at the same time also inserting multiple pages from a bunch of PDF files (different lengths).
Here's an example
We have PDF A, which has 6 pages, I need Indesign to pull the 6 different pages and populate them with the information from A that is in the CSV line for Document A.
Then on to document B, C, D and so on, issue is- I would like this to be fluid so it does each document together as one package- we have a few hundred documents so the goal is to not do them individually.
Is this possible, would it require a complex script? Does Bridge have any functions that could do this?
Thanks, Alex

I'm confused by statement "I need Indesign to pull the 6 different [PDF] pages and populate them with the information..."
You want InDesign to add information to a PDF that is placed into the InDesign document?
There's no way to automate that because it can't be done.
Or is there something else you want to do?

Hi Alex,
with Data Merge you cannot address individual pages from a single PDF file. Just the first page.
A solution would be to split the PDF in several single pages PDFs and include their names with the CSV file or a tab delimited text file as database for the Data Merge process.

Uwe,
I've got a 11"x3" 20 page pdf that I would like to put on one indesign page with each page being in a separate box (they are labels).
I've also separated it into 20 different pdf pages but nothing I tried seem to work - it still just wants to see the 1st page.
could you please describe your steps - thanks! 🙂

Use Image Catalog script included with InDesign.

Do you want to place al PDF pages (like thumbnails) in one InDesign page?
When you import the PDF file (File; Place / CMD/CTRL + D) make sure you check the "Import Options" checkbox. Choose "all" Pages. (You don't have to seperate the PDF into 20 different pages.) It can be useful to already have images frames ready, to place your PDF pages. You can make a grid of image frames (placeholders) with "gridify" first. (Place 1 image frame and use your arrows right/left/up/down to create the grid. Then place the PDF with "all pages" one by one in the placeholder frames. Importing multiple PDF pages and using the gridify technique in one command, doesn't work. It does for regular images ...)
