How do I create a merged document magazine-style, facing pages… and Data Merge? I've done dozens of tests, and it's always duplicating the parents, instead of alternating them 😞

Correct answer Colin Flashman

I wrote an article some time ago about this on my blog, the title is Facing Page Data Merge – it IS Possible

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Thanks, Colin! I actually read your article yesterday, and that solution worked – two different single masters, turned to facing pages after merged. And I was happy with that, problem solved and all.
BUT… After that, I started the process all over again, and it didn´t work again… It's always using only one of the masters on all pages, instead of alternating them. I'll try again today, after a night's sleep.

Anyway, this process also rises other problems… Creating a new document from scratch, all settings like layout margins and baseline grid are lost. So this is not perfect, and Adobe should have solved it a long time ago.
(I even tried to download your files)

For me, it looks like the "main" contents - photo and texts underneath - are always "left aligned" anyway - and not mirrored.

Only what's on the margins - map and graph - should be "outside of the spine".

Right?
