Deleted InDesign 2021, now I can't open my files anymore

So as a matter of cleaning up, I deleted InDesign 2021, since I had already downloaded InDesign 2022. But now I can't open any of my InDesign files anymore, because I made them using InDesign 2021. I've already tried going to the standard apps list on my computer and tried to make indd and idml files open with InDesign 2022, but it doesn't allow me to do that. I really need to open my files though. Do I maybe just need to wait for the new year to start or something? I also don't have pdfs of my files, so I can't import all my old files into InDesign 2022. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help me! I really have no idea what to do.

Launch InDesign 2022 and open you 2021 files using File > Open.

Okay, so, I've already found the solution myself haha. For anyone who maybe has this problem still, here's how to solve it: if you want to re-download an earlier version of an app, you just go to Creative Cload, Apps and then find the app you want to install an earlier, click the three dots and then click earlier versions. That then gives you the option to re-install the version.

But you haven't really fixed the problem as InDesign 2022 should have no problem opening earlier version files whether those versions are currently installed or even if they were never installed. There is something wrong at the OS level causing your problem....

Check your file associations

Windows

Mac

---

Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the

Thank you! I've already found out how to fix it, but thanks nonetheless for you help and effort!
