Design Layout Turning Grey and Disappearing in InDesign 20.0 on macOS Sonoma

I downloaded the lastest Indesign (20.0) and work on a mabcook with sonoma 14.6

My design layout turns grey all the time, the designpages dissapear and the only thing I can see is a total grey screen/canvas. All other indesign features are there,

the only thing that seems to work is quitting and restarting.. and then working until it suddelny turns light grey again

VERY VERY FRUSTRATING

I have not experienced this before with other version in Indesign

Is there a solution?

Thanks

First, update to the latest Sonoma, macOS 14.7, just in case (although it probably won't make a difference in this case).

Also, try general troubleshooting steps:

In addition, you can still install InDesign 2024 from the Creative Cloud app if it indeed turns out to be a bug in 2025.

I'm running Indesign 20.2 on PC. I have text and images disappear daily as well as image boxes going grey.  I have to turn guides off and on to see everything again.  It's extremely frustrating.

Try turning off the GPU performance preference.

Make sure your video card drivers are up to date if they are third-party.

Same issue here. Did you find a solution?

Hi @utkesen,

Thanks for reaching out! I would recommend following the suggestions already mentioned by the experts in this thread, like updating macOS, resetting preferences, or turning off GPU Performance and let us know the update if they helped.

Also, could you share a bit more info about your setup? Which version of InDesign and macOS are you using? Does this happen with all files or just a specific one, including newly created documents? Looking forward to your update!

Hi Abhishek, it happends on all files.
OS is up to date, but turning off the GPU as Dave suggested did the trick for now 🙂
