Hey guys,

I currently would like to design a A4 notebook with tear out pages - something like in the photo i attached. And my question is how am i going to do it? Do i have to desigh front and back page and then just one page that is going to be tear out?

Thanks for the answers!

If all the tearout pages will be the same you would need just two one-page files. Don't forget to add bleed for any page ruling.

It depends on the print house requirements. In my experience, we generally create a cover (front and back sides and the spine) in one file, preferably in Illustrator. And then create 2 pages (odd and even) in Indesign or illustrator and write in the accompanying letter the number of pages. So we send 2 PDF files.
But some print companies want to have the whole layout in 1 file, then you certainly will do it in InDesign and repeat the pages like in the famous funny story: "The knight mounted his horse and galloped: top-top, top-top... top-top, top-top... And on the last page: Arrived!" 🙂

Well, if say seriously, ask the printing company which version is better for them.

Yeah, i guess i am gonna ask. But the logical thing is to design just the cover and the page that is going to be teared out. I will see... anyway thanks for the help!

yes, your original idea is more logical, and most likely right. But some insurance is always useful 🙂

I would speak to the printer about it. Most likely they will want the front cover and the internal page layouts as individual files. I presume here the back will be plain board.

Well i would like to do some design on the front cover page and then something on the bottom of the tear out pages so i think that just these 2 designs are what i need but wanted to just ask to be sure! And yeah the back would be plain 🙂
