Question

Digital publishing suite testing environment options

I am teaching digital publication for communication design students and I found InDesign DPS solution really fruitful. Students loved it because of the familiar InDesign environment and the logic behind the system. We used Folio preview on iPad function, which was more then enough for our complexity of tasks and we could present results through the same iPad without any hassle. However after updated CC version the Folio builder support was suspended.

I have a simple question, is there any way to mimic that simple preview on iPad function with inDesign CC 2017 and later?

Any help on this search would be greatly appreciated.

What they should be learning is how to use the digital publishing and interactive work panels in indesign.  There are competitions to adobe DPS that are far more cost effective and deliver a larger spectrum of interactions. Plus that competition uses these panels or runs their own plugins with similar panels.

Here are two platforms for you to look at:

Export HTML5 from InDesign with in5 - Home

Aquafadas plugin for Adobe InDesign – Rakuten Aquafadas

I learned adobe DPS and worked with folios a year after graduating college. we worked of the free folio builder within the company. worked great for about 3 years. however, 7 years later, everybody i have worked with wants solutions that are more cost effective, run free of an app, browser based so it works on tables and desktops the same way, able to host anywhere and able to handle drag and drops, quizzes lots of animations. and so on.

It was because of this trend i noticed that i researched 57 different digital publishing platforms and i found these two to deliver what people were asking me for.

Also, its important to say that you might have students that are driven to code more than just working visually, for them this might be more interesting to learn/explore: Pugpig

hope this helps.

DPS? really? Anyone at your school, you, students can afford to pay for this?

Begin teaching them that DPS no longer exists and is called AEM these days since about a year or two.

Second: teach them FXL ePub, then proof in iBooks on iPad. Easy.
