Disappearing letters

I seem to have created some sort of 2 letter macro by mistake. When I type the letters "fl" by itself or in a work those letters disappear! I need help! I need the word "flyer" all the time.

Sounds like a ligature problem with a cheap font. So, please provide some details:

 

Version of InDesign and operating system as well as the font you're using. Does choosing a different font work?

Most likely the font does not have this specific ligature avaible, turn off Ligatures and see if "f" and "l" appear.
