Do Internal Cross-References in Footnotes Work in Reflowable EPUBs?

Can internal x-refs inside footnotes work in a reflowable epub? Currently, without any changes made in Sigil, they are going to the book cover.

Thanks.

Hi @sidneydavenport,

Thanks for clarifying! Reflowable EPUBs generally do not support internal cross-references within footnotes. This is due to the way reflowable EPUBs handle content, which can cause issues with linking back to specific points within footnotes.

You might need to manually adjust or test alternative methods for referencing if internal links are crucial for your document. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

Hello @sidneydavenport,

Thank you for reaching out with your question! I understand how frustrating it can be when cross-references in footnotes aren't working as expected in a reflowable EPUB.

To help you resolve this, could you please share which version of InDesign you're using and the details of your operating system?

In the meantime, it’s possible that the issue might be related to how the cross-references are being handled in the export process. We can explore specific settings or adjustments that may help ensure the links work correctly within your EPUB. Would you mind sharing the screenshot of the export settings?

Looking forward to your response so we can find the best solution together.

Thank you,
Abhishek Rao

Sorry, I should not have tagged this question with how-to. All other cross references are working just fine. I specifically need to know if reflowable epubs support cross references within footnotes.
