Dot above 'Q', combining glyphs/diacritics

Hi, I need to create a character which is a capital Q with a dot above it (for an equation). I'm using 'Amsi' font which includes the 'dot above' glyph - unicode U+02D9, however I can't work out how to combine it with the 'Q'.

If I type the Q followed by the dot it just appears after it,

I've tried highlighting the Q then typing the dot, but it just replaces it.

So far the only workaround seems to be reducing the tracking so much that the dot is over the Q! What is the correct way to combine these things.

Thanks

Hi

You need a combining glyph: U02D9 isn't.

Try U0307

Vinny...you legend!

Typed 'Q' followed by double clicking the 'combining dot above' in the glyphs palette and hey presto it appeared above the Q.

I had to switch to Cambria font as Amsi didn't have it.

Thank you so much

You are very welcome

If you need to type this very often, you can use this Rorohikos script

Combined with a shortcut, it can fasten up the process big time
