Dropbox Support Claims InDesign "files and programs are not supported with Dropbox"?

Our entire marketing department is having issues, possibly with Dropbox, possibly with InDesign, possibly with Windows File Explorer. In trying to troubleshoot, our manager was communicating with Dropbox support and they told her "InDesign files and programs are not supported with Dropbox" and closed the support ticket on her!

Has anyone heard this before?

I can't believe there aren't TONS of other creatives also using Adobe products and Dropbox without issue.

I think the issue lies with Windows, but I was flabbergasted when I read the response from Dropbox support. Just wondering if anyone here has received the same message from Dropbox?

(NOTE: I've asked this on Dropbox forums too, just covering my bases to see if anyone in the InDesign space has seen this too.)

UPDATE: Ours was a syncing issue where Dropbox had updated and all folders in the Selective Sync menu were rechecked and trying to sync. Due to the size of our organization's storage, it was causing the issues. We signed out of Dropbox and back in, and then made sure our Selective Sync settings were only the folders we needed and all is well.

Hi @Sarahfelldown:

I store my InDesign projects exclusively on dropbox—and have for years—with out any issues and I work on them from my both my macOS and Windows computers.

Hi @Sarahfelldown , Most of the major cloud file sharing sevices have a cloud only file storage option, which will cause problems with InDesign links, so Dropbox support may have been referring to that. You want to make sure file syncing is turned on if you are using Dropbox for InDesign collaborations. Make sure online-only is not enabled:

I’m not seeing any problems with the local or cloud copies of the ID files I’m syncing to Dropbox:
