Dropdowns in sidebar don't work in InDesign on macOS

In my right sidebar I have, for example, options for text.

Normally, when I wanted to change the font of the entire text block, I'd click there, open the dropdown menu for fonts, choose one, and it'd change it.

However, now it just closes that tab, and nothing changes.

I have the same with any other tab that uses a dropdown. So, for example, I can click on another swatch, that does work. But when I want to change the tint of that color, it closes the tab again.

I'm using the latest version of indesign 18.5, and MacOS Montery.

I have tried: restarting my computer, restarting indesign, force closing the adobe programs, updating all adobe programs.

The sidebar tabs do work in my other programs such as illustrator. It's only indesign that won't cooperate.

It's been driving me nuts for days now, I hope someone can help me out!

My troubleshooting suggestions:

If it only happens with one file, there could be some corruption. Try saving as IDML (File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or Later (IDML). See if opening the IDML file helps.

If it happens with all files, try restoring InDesign preferences and caches following these directions:

Hi @chantalv28825884 ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I've tried this on the most recent InDesign version, 18.5, using macOS, and everything appears to be functioning smoothly on my side. To assist you more effectively, could you provide a brief video showcasing your specific issue? Alternatively, you might want to test a new document to see if the problem persists there as well. If it does, attempting to reset your preferences could potentially resolve the situation.

Thanks

Hi,

My collegues don't have the issue either. It happens in all my documents, no matter if I start a new one or use an older one.

I've added a screenrecoding of me trying to change the font, and change the tint of color in the swatches (my indesign is in Dutch by the way, hopefully that's not too much of a problem). I hope the issue is clear enough.

Thanks in advance,

Jennifer
