Question

Embedding Fonts in InDesign File?

Every time I open my InDesign file, it says that fonts are missing.

However, I have all the font files and have gone through the process of "replacing" all the fonts with the same fonts that the programs says is missing. Even with saving, this never saves the linking of the fonts, so the error message for missing fonts always appears.

Is there a way to permanently embed the fonts in InDesign? If so, how?

Thanks!

Willi gives the direct solution, but the real problem here is why your system can't remember where fonts are. Fix that problem and you won't need a workaround.

What platform and OS version are you on? If it's Mac, you need to know — or should know — that are there are some quirks in how fonts are handled on both a system and app basis. I'm not a Mac/spert, but my understanding is that you can have different sets of fonts, and if you're linking to the system fonts and not the InDesign-recognized set, you'll get this perpetual loss of the links on opening.

But in any case, font issues are resolvable. First step: your platform, OS and ID version? And are all your resources, fonts included, on the local system, or a network/cloud setup?

Package the file, you will ger a font folder aside your INDD file. Put there all fonts you need for that file.

Embedding is bot possible.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
