I have about 10 volumes, 150–500 pages each, lots of endnotes, and the numbering needs to re-start at every chapter.
For footnotes, I can designate the chapter opening page at a section, but it doesn't show up as an option for endnotes, even in ID 2023.
For another project, I used the script "Break text thread" to break the whole text into individual story threads for each chapter. I cannot do that in this project, as I am also using WordsFlow to be able to update the text from revised manuscripts as we go along.
Any not-manual, timeconsuming, painful solutions? We are on a super tight schedule, and there are between 2000–3000 pages.
Thanks!
Linda

I see that endnote options can either be continuous or "restart each story". I don't see any other settings. I am not aware of any embedded character that can reset the count.

Drat. Yes, that's the problem. The entire book is one continuous thread, one story.
For workflow reasons (editing going on simultaneous to layout) it needs to stay in one thread, one story. Otherwise, every time I get supplied re-edited text, I'll have to chop it up into chapters (usually around 10 chapters per volume).
For footnotes, there's the option to restart at a Section, or page or spread. Section would be idea.

A fine feature idea. In sympathy with you, I recommend we take the rest of the weekend off! Now where are those olives... ?
