ePub blurry image

I am trying to publish e-books form a series of my earlyer printed picture books. Everything is fine with my ePub file (I have converted all images basic files from CMYK to RGB). But when loading pages in the reader, they apper "blurry" for a second, before the page comes into focus. Can anyone spot iwhat I could have done wrong? Are images too heavy maybe? Since I wanted to work with text as part of the pictures, there has been a detour around illustartor (psd images, then pages in illustrator, then pages collected in one inDesign file) Coukd that be the problem? Thank you for any comment!

Some thoughts to consider:

Which ePub format; Reflowable ePub or FXL ePub?

Which version of InDesign and OS?

Have you repurposed your images from print size to ePub?

Which format are your images, e.g. JPG?

Did you state you had text as part of the image?

Is there a prticular reason you've selected the ePub format rather than say PDF?

What does it state when you validate your ePub http://validator.idpf.org

Thanks a lot. It is fixed format to be able to maintain page layout. InDesign version 14.0.2, mac Mojave 10.14.6. I use ePub because the distributor asks for it. (publizon / pubhub.dk) They are btw using same validator as the link you sent me. I don't know what you mean by repurpose images from print sixe to ePub? I tried downscaling images to 70% on one page just to check – it didn't seem to have any affect. Is there another way? Images are created as .psd and imported to illustrator. Text is created in illustrator. Illustrator files are then imported in inDesign document. The print files are created in an older version of creative suite six years ago. Here is result of validation: Detected version: Could not determine version. Results: Congratulations! No problems were found in kamel til e-bog.indd. Can you think of anything additional?

Have you tested the ePub on ereading devices and readers such as the iBooks Reader and Adobe Digital Editions ?
I tested the ePub file on the book-app that my mac is born with. Maybe I should try to publish one of the books and see what it does before I start setting the books up over again in inDesign. Original images are cmyk as they are drawn by hand and scanned. And the peculiar workflow is because I wanted tekst to appear as part of the image on the page and therefore created it in illustrator. I might be able to do smth similar directly in inDesign. Thxs agin!
