Hi everyone, I'm self publishing and my first epub reported the following when trying to upload it into Draft2Digital...any thoughts how to resolve in InDesign?:

EPUBCheck Summary Validating using EPUB version 3.3 rules. Check finished with errors Messages: 0 fatals / 1 error / 0 warnings / 4 infos

EPUBCheck - Hide Errors ERROR(RSC-005): /OEBPS/toc.xhtml(9,9): Error while parsing file: element "ol" incomplete; missing required element "li"

The issue here is that you can't have an <ol> without some list items <li> inside of it. This is possibly because you don't have a TOC style set up in InDesign.

Hi @Cj_TruHeart,

Thanks for sharing the details, and congrats on getting to the publishing stage. The error you're seeing with EPUBCheck seems related to how the TOC is being generated when set to 'None', and we've seen a few reports like this recently.

Could you let me know which version of InDesign you're currently using and what OS you're on? In the meantime, I'd recommend checking out this thread here: Reflow 3.0 EPUB export TOC RSC-005 error.

Please take a look and let me know if the issue described there matches what you're seeing. If it does, you can try the suggested steps in that discussion and see if they help resolve the error.

Do keep me posted on how it goes, happy to assist further if needed!
