Error code 5

I created a file this morning and have restarted since. Now when I try to open it, I get a message saying the file is damaged and can't be opened. Error code: 5

Is there any way I can save it?

Thanks.

In case of Error Code 5 when you try to open an InDesign document, see into a possible solution below.

Big thanks to Kasyan Servetsky who posted this on his website!

INDDRecovery — a program for restoring corrupted InDesign documents
Platform: Windows, Author: Mikhail Kondakov

"The current version of the program checks the integrity of the document’s block structure and corrects it.

In some cases this allows you to repair a file which InDesign is unable to open with Error code:5."

Hi Francis,

I will be more than happy to help you. As Jane mentioned please share your file at corrupt_indesign_docs@adobe.com.

There are multiple factors both internal and external to InDesign application that can lead to document corruption. However, we can take a look and see if the file can be repaired.

If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link.

Srishti
