@MastaP

OK, your file is MAJORLY corrupted - it crashed my InDesign without any warnings.

IDMLing doesn't work.

I won't post your file here - just tell you what to do to fix it:

1) please create a new document - with any page size - but with just ONE page,

2) go back to your document and open Pages panel, then hamburger menu, then select MOVE PAGES:

Select ALL PAGES, AT START OF DOCUMENT and in Move To - select your new, blank document,

You'll probably get a warning - ju

Hi @MastaP,

Thanks for sharing the details and screenshots! Could you please confirm the version of InDesign you're using and the details of your operating system? Also, is this issue happening only with this specific file, or are you seeing the same error with other files as well?

If it’s just this file, try this quick workaround: save the file as an IDML, reopen it, then save it under a new name. Open that newly saved file and try exporting to PDF again.

Let me know how it goes!

Abhishek

Merci

Haven't used the feature yet - but could it be hidden spreads?

If the IDML route doesn't work

alternative to check if this works - could be something built up in the background of the file.

Open the document that contains the pages you want to move.

Check the Page Setup of the Source:
With the source document open:

Go to File > Document Setup to see the page size, orientation, and number of pages.

Go to Layout > Margins and Columns to check the margin settings.

Make a note of these details — you’ll need them for the new document.

Create a New Document (Destination):
Go to File > New > Document.

Enter the same page size, orientation, and margins as the source document.
Go to File > Save As, give it a name, and save it somewhere you can find easily.

If it’s not open already, go to Window > Pages.

Switch back to the source document. In the Pages panel, select the page thumbnails you want to move.
To select a range: click the first, hold Shift, then click the last.

With the pages selected, click the menu icon (three lines) at the top right of the Pages panel and choose Move Pages…

Set the Destination:
In the Move Pages dialog box:
Move Pages: This will list your selected pages.
Destination: Choose your new document from the dropdown list.
Location: Choose where the pages should go beginning, end, before or after a certain page.
Click OK and the pages will move into the new document

Save this and see if it works for you now.

Exporter: "Sans titre-1.pdf" Sans titre-1 Annulation...

Merci

Hi @MastaP,

Thanks again for trying the previous suggestions. As mentioned by our community expert @jmlevy, please try exporting the file in smaller sections (e.g., half of the document at a time). This can help isolate the specific page or asset causing the issue.

If the issue still persists after that, could you please share the affected file with us so we can test it on our end? If the file contains any confidential content, feel free to send it to me via DM here on the community.

Also, please include a screenshot of your export settings when you share the file. This will help us better understand the export configuration you're using.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Abhishek

Might be not enough for InDesign to finish the export - can you try to export HALF of the file?

You'll probably get a warning - just click OK:

RobertatIDTasker_1-1745362118594.png

3) go to the new document and delete LAST pages - it's the initial one that you no longer need,

4) save your new file with a NEW name - DO NOT overwrite your original file.

Here is the size difference:

RobertatIDTasker_2-1745362337359.png

Some more info - it looks like your file has been created on 10 January 2014, 11:05, using InDesign v 8.0.0

In order to avoid similar problems again - please do SAVE AS with a new name - daily or weekly - depends on how many changes you'll make - then next time - work on this new file.

Why? When you just do SAVE, in order to make the process quick, InDesign just saves info about last changes = preserves all the Undo History, which remains part of the file, but there is no access to it once you close your file.

Next time, when you open your document - InDesign needs to analyse all this Undo history - in order to build the last version of the file - and in your case - it has to analyse 15 years of changes 😉

Soner or later this processing may lead to corruption - what just happened.
