I recently had computer repair and reloaded the InDesign software.  Now anytime I open a former InDesign file it is "read only" and has to be saved under a new file name. Is there a correction to avoid this inconvenience?

InDesign CS5.5 is not supported for Windows 10. You may have to update to Creative Cloud 2017 to solve this problem.

Hi,

When you reloaded your Indesign, did you maybe download a later version than that which was used to create the files?

Regards,

Malcolm

Could you provide your InDesign version and the OS you're working on? Apparently this has been a problem that has existed in some earlier versions of InDesign and Macintosh (you didn't say if you are on a Mac). From what I can tell upgrading to the latest software and OS seems to have been the best solution.

I reloaded InDesign from the same disks as the original installation, but took any 'upgrades' that showed up from the internet as it was loading.  The former software should have been updated, as well, so I'm assuming software is the same.

Hello Bill,

I understand that InDesign may not be supported in Win10 but this is occurring on a Mac Big Sur. Thanks for any and all information provided.
