Export a packaged file with proxy / lowres links?

Hello there!

Anyone know if it's possible to do a packaged file export, but with proxy links instead of fullres links? I'd like to send along my project to another designer, but due to bandwidth issues I need to send over Jpg's, or at least smaller files. I'd like to avoid batch resizing commands outside of ID if at all possible... much appreciated, thanks!

InDesign does not have such a feature for such a (deprecated) practice. But the Links panel has some nifty tricks in the panel menu button like ReLink to Folder. You could relink to a different folder where all the images were lower-rez. Of course, you would have to batch that through PS to get the lighter weight files. As Mike says, but what possible purpose would this serve? You'll need the full res images eventually. Just send the INDD file without the links. When you get it back the links will be found and you'll be good to go.

Because my designer needs to actually see decent images of the work?

Going with low res won't give you much better than just leaving the proxy images.

Bob has the right idea. Don't bother sending any images with the .indd file. The designer will still be able to see something, and relinking the images once the layout is locked will be easy.
