Export and change GREP-Queries

Community Beginner ,
Feb 25, 2025 Feb 25, 2025

I'm trying to export various GREP queries, which unfortunately isn't possible to use it with my colleagues. Therefore, I'm trying to incorporate longer expressions into an existing XML query. However, the characters aren't displayed as they appear in the GREP search, neither in Visual Studio Code nor in a regular text editor. How can I solve this problem? (InDesign 2025/Mac)

You must enter your query into the dialog, then save it before it will apear in the folder IN YOUR USER PROFILE, not the application folder.

Not sure of the exact path on Mac as I'm a Windows user, but I can tell you that the user profile is a hidden folder.

As a test, I just copied a whole folder of saved Queries from an old laptop into my new system (should have done it a couple of years ago). They showed up instantly.

Not sure I understand the problem. You can save your GREP Queries in a folder in your user porofile directly from the Find/Change dialog (there's a button right next tot eh Query name field at the top of the dialog). That folder, or selected queries from it, can be copied and pasted into the same location for another user.

Unfortunately not. There are only the preset-Queries from Adobe or imported ones. But I can't catch my own Queries and transfer them to another computer. They are here: /Applications/Adobe InDesign 2025/Presets/Find-Change Queries/GREP/de_DE/

Oh yeah, I found them, thanks a lot!!!! So I can change them in Indesign and export them as they are 🙂
They were here (Mac): /Users/[Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 20.0/de_DE/Find-Change Queries/GREP/
