I have a picture background. I have placed a white filled frame with soft feathered edges on top of the picture, so the text can go on top of the white filled feathered frame.
I have tried a white filled frame with “hard light” 100% transparency and feathered with 3p3.
I then duplicate this layer a few times to give the result that I want.(so the text is clear and readable).
It looks good on screen and in pdf, but when I print it you can see “white oval shapes,” presumably where the feathering ends.
How do I get rid of the oval shape effect, isnt it possible for the feathering to blend smoothly?
I have tried all the options under transparency and feathering but get the same result when printing.

Hard to know without seeing it.
You might get a better result if you also feather the image so that the image itself is feathered and blends into the white frame feathering...
But what are the PDF settings?
What printer are you using?
Latest drivers?
Ultimately - you could feather the image in photoshop first - probably the best result that way.
You can keep a layer above the image in photoshop for the feather effect .
Then when you don't need it you can use InDesign to control the layer options for the image.

Hi @Theo331728749dq2 , Composite printers don’t always handle transparency flattening and color management correctly. Most expect RGB color—try exporting to flattened RGB with the Output Compatibility set to Acrobat 4 and the Destination set to DocumentRGB including the destination profile:
If you still have problems try checking Print As Image in Acrobat’s Advanced dialog:

Thanks. It was the printer, I changed some settings and got it working.
