How can I export my styles so that I can import into another ID Document, without making it a template? For example, I want my "body1", "heading1", "subtitle3" etc. to be available for importing when I open an ID document that doesnt have those styles.
From the Style panel inthe new file, open the panel menu and choose Load styles, then navigate to the olld file and select it. Pretty clear from there.
If you want those to be default styles for all new docs, load them with nothing open.

Thank you Mr Spier, worked like a charm. I went as far as making a template, called 'styles'. No formatting on the page, no extra pages etc. Just left the styles and the swatches associated with them. It worked... Thank you again!

Typo: It's "old" file.

ANother method would be to save the styles in a CC Library and you will be able to get them from your Library and use it in InDesign and Illustrator. In Illustrator somehow limitted as AI does not support the full spectrum of the functionality.
