Export to Print PDF error

Hi,

Each team I'm trying to export a file (PDF for printing), I see this message :

"The predefined parameter specifies source profiles that do not match the current colour file. The profiles specified by the colour file will be used".

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but it doesn't change anything. I'm now on CC 2020 and still have this message appearing. I found a temporary solution, which is to export in RVB.

Thanks for your help ! 🙂

It looks like you might be using the default [High Quality Print] preset, which includes that warning:

If the PDF is for offset printing don‘t use the [High Quality Print] preset. Despite its name [High Quality Print] does not properly profile native InDesign color—for highend print the PDF/X-4 preset would be better.

Thanks for your advice. When I choose to export with the PDF/X-4 preset, everything is fine !

Many thanks all for your implication 🙂 I'm sure this conversation will be useful for others.

What preset are you using for the Export?

Hi
I’ve moved this from “Get Started” to the “InDesign” forum.

I beleive that the colour set up of the file you are exporting from has different colour output intent that the export preset you are using.

How can I check that ?

Open InDesign > Edit > Colour Settings. This will show you your colour management policies. Ideally all your CC applications should be sychronised (which can be done using Bridge).

The document you are exporting from may well have different colour settings applied, if you open the document > Edit > Assign Profiles... This will bring up a similar window to this:

As you can see, the document I have opened is assigned U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2, but my working colour space is ISO Coated v2 (ECI). This is where the mismatch is and what casues the warning. It is basically saying that the export preset wants to use ISO coated v2 (ECI) but the document is set up to use U.S. Web coated (SWOP) and the export preset colour setting will be used instead.

In colour settings (Edit > Colour Settings), if you tick 'Ask when opening' for 'Profile Mismatches' and then open the InDesign document you are exporting from, a menu will pop up if there is a mismatch between the document output intent and InDesign colour output intent.

I hope this goes some way to steering you toward a solution.

This is just a warning. You should be able to ignore it. But is the message true?

Kind of. I can ignore this message and export but then, when I'm opening the PDF file, not every element is visible and I get an error message saying something like : This page contains an error. Acrobat might not be able to display this page properly. Contact the author of the PDF file to fix this problem.
