I am in InDesign and wanted to lear how to script. I right clicked on a script and clicked "edit". This surprisingly switch to creative cloud and downloaded a program called ExtendScript. Never heard of it. Anyhow, once download and installed, the open button is greyed out and I can't open it. Same after a restart of the windows 10 laptop (Dell XPS 13)
Why?
Can I use sublime text instead?

Hi Catherine,
What happens when you double click the app exe from the install location? You can also try VSCode, Adobe has released a VSCode extension for debugging scripts. See the following
https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Adobe.extendscript-debug
Going forward Adobe will not update or release new versions of Extendscript so going via the VSCode setup may be a wise idea. I personally still use Extendscript, it works well for me so far so did not feel the need to switch, but for someone starting the journey VSCode might be a worthwhile option

Launching the app from the exe file worked.
Took a while to find it. So for those of you who don't want to loose time like I did here is the path on windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CC\ExtendScript Toolkit.exe
Thank you

The ExtendScript Toolkit App (ESTK) should still work with Windows 10.
You could open the ESTK and look for applications you can target. If you are able to target e.g. InDesign 2022 you have to wait a bit until the document object model loads. After that you should be able to edit a script in the ESTK from the InDesign Scripts panel.
The ExtendScript Toolkit CC application installer can still be downloaded from:

"Anyhow, once download and installed, the open button is greyed out and I can't open it."
Hm. Well, I never ever open a CC app from the Creative Cloud Desktop App.
I always head to my installed exe file and after a first double-click to launch the application I bind it to my task bar.
