Failed to export to PDF for a large poster

I cannot seem to save 2 large projects to PDF

These are my steps for exporting:

1. file

2. adobe presets : PDF X-4 or hi quality print

3. include bleed

4. attempt to save

5. rejection

I have recreated the file from scratch

I have moved the file to a new file

I have asked a different person to save the file > no luck

I had our IT guy try to "downsample"... it only worked when we scaled it half way and then weird stuff happened

Since my deadline has come and gone, I was able to send something I hope is accepted. What I ended up doing was sending a file with a PPI of 297 or as close to 300 as I could get. This has allowed me to save the PDF, what I'm trying to do now is learn a better process while achieving great results.

Yes Bob, as I suggested in my post to the OP 4 March. The OP doesn't seem to want to accept advice!

Derek,

I have not rejected your advice, I have stated my issues even after submitting a lower resolution image. The result of which was poor quality.

What I would love to learn from either you or Bob is how to achieve the results you and Bob have had before. I have not seen that advice yet. I have followed everything either of you suggested and I'm not trying to be difficult.

The quality of the reproduction of the image depends on the quality of the original, if it's too low resolution increasing the size won't improve it and make it sharp.

I agree Derek,

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I am downloading hi-res images.

This is where I'm am downloading it from 2018 Nissan Armada Photos Nissan Online Newsroom

Once I download, I noticed I had to scale the image significantly and that is why I increased the resolution.

Please let me know if you see any red flags about this approach.

Again, you cannot increase resolution. It’s simply impossible.

While PS may do a much better job of enlarging than it used to, there’s still a limit to what can be done.

Thanks Bob, I was only following alternatives that I had read about here Photoshop image size and resolution I know there are limits to what it will look like and in the end, I hope my most recent submission will be accepted by the vendors.

Thank you both for your help it seems like there isn't much of a solution other than submitting a lower res image and hoping the quality is good enough to be displayed.

If you select an image in ID or in the links panel, like the front-end image above, what is its effective resolution?

I've done a fair amount of large format work and I have rarely used an effective resolution greater than 150 dpi when sized in the document. There are exceptions, but like I wrote, it's pretty rare.

Just about all of it, unfortunately.

You cannot just create a 300ppi image by typing in a number. All you're doing is create a huge file for no reason at all.

Again, posters do not get printed at 300 ppi. Generally, 50ppi is plenty.
