It's a simple thing to do a Find/Change to search for a particular Character Style (or any style or attribute) and go from one to the other throughout the document. Or am I misunderstanding your question.
If you want a quick visual way to see where it's applied, you can do something like temporarily change the character colour for your bold style to, say, Red, then you can see where it's applied as you change the pages (as long as your remember to change the colour back to what it should be
