Font not rendering properly to printer in PDF

I have a long book designed with InDesign 15.02. In it, I used a specific handwritten font from the Monotype MyFonts site. The file prints correctly from InDesign to my laser printer. When exported as a pdf to Acrobat, it displays properly on screen, but does not print correctly.

I tested the same file on all four of my printers:

Canon 424DW Black and white laser printer

Epson 3540

Epson SC-P5000 large format printer

Epson 9890

The results were the same on all four printers, so I think I can rule out driver issues. I'm printing from a Mac Pro (2013) with plenty of RAM, Mojave System.

As this book needs to be in PDF/X format for the printer, it is critical that Acrobat be able to print the fonts.

I emailed the font distributor, who suggested using some other application to create the pdf file. I haven't got any idea how to go about this in InDesign.

The fault occurs in both the CMYK Cover file, and the 300 pages of the book, which is black and white.  The font is used for numerous subheads, so creating outlines is probably not an option, with the exception of the cover.

At this point, I'm either looking at replacing the font with something similar, or finding a workaround to get the file to print properly in Acrobat. I am not sure where the problem lies, since it does print properly from InDesign...

Suggestions of things to try?

TIA

Jim Parker

Are you making the PDF by using File>Export and choosing PDF from the dropdown list?

Here's a screen shot of the file, open in Acrobat.

LATEST

Both the regular otf version and SVG version work here in QXP, both direct printing and via an exported pdf.

The regular otf version works fine in everything else, both printing directly and an exported pdf, including ID CS6.

I don't have a current subscription to try any version of ID CC.
