Fonts in eBooks
Hi all,
I'm formatting a book for kindle and using Kindle Previewer to get a feel for how it will look.
I noticed something interesting about fonts:
I've been trying out a variety of fonts for readablility in the eBook format. Different fonts seem to bahave differently in the previewer. Source Sans Pro Regular (an open-type font) appears in the kidle previews and seems to be "fixed", i.e. changing the font in the mobile device preview has no effect. On the other hand Calibri does not show up in the preview, it just defaults to Bookerly and is changeable via the previewer's menu.
Anyone know why this is?
Also are there any opinions on fonts for ebooks? Personally (so far) I prefer Calibri for on-screen reading. My quandry is whether to have Calibri as a "fixed" font (if that's even possible) or to just leave the ebook as Bookerly by default and changeable by the user.
Cheers 🙂
